Who works on Saiga/ AKs near Kennedy TWP?
Greetings. I just called two smiths and both told me they don't work on them and don't know anyone that does. Ideas?
Thanks!

The shroud cut off the FSB, and then potentially barrel threading (from what I've read some barrels are threaded, others aren't).

Hmm.. don't know anyone out your way but there is a guy by me that does saiga work.. Black Horse Tactical IIRC...
I have a saiga and i cut the threads myself. Got the die from CNC Warrior.. i shoot it suppressed and it works fine... I can send you the links and the pics of my rifle if you are interested in doing it yourself.

Shroud...Hacksaw, Dremel, file, instant blue. Threads, takes the correct die with pilot. Someone has one. Mike the diameter to make sure it's standard and die will fit it.

Re: Who works on Saiga/ AKs near Kennedy TWP?
From everything Ive read a pipe cutter is the way to go for shroud removal, which I purchased. Then I read a couple cases where people also had to heat them up with a torch (in addition to cutting), which I don't have. I also don't have the die tool. I figured I'd check prices, and go from there. Just really exploring options at this point.

Re: Who works on Saiga/ AKs near Kennedy TWP?
I just cut my shroud off of my Saiga with a pipe cutter. Measure the inside threads of the muzzle device you want to install and only remove that much. The PWS I am putting on my Saiga is 5/8" of an inch. You don't want to take off too much and then it looks weird.
Just go slow and steady.

Try Mike at Carlisle Gun Works. He works on AKs well.

Re: Who works on Saiga/ AKs near Kennedy TWP?
The problem i found with the pipe cutter is getting it close enough, since the front sight gets in the way. I did mine with a dremel, but it was a little sloppy. Once i cut the threads (I did 16x1 LH, since its standard AK), it cleaned up nicely.
