Default Out In Newark, Two Bad Guys Killed---by legal gun owner?

    http://bearingarms.com/right-bear-ar...d-guys-killed/

For the second time in a week a resident of nearly-communist Newark, New Jersey, has used a firearm in self-defense, and didn’t go to jail for defending her life:

For the second time this week, someone working at a city business fired a weapon in self-defense against armed robbery suspects, police said Friday.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Thursday two men burst into a variety story in the 400 block of Central Avenue, with one man ordering customers onto the floor and threatening to shoot if the owner did not give the pair money. One of the suspects, 23-year-old Durell Hearn, was wielding an AK-47 pistol and fired a warning shot, department spokesman Sgt. Ron Glover said.

The owner of the business, who was behind the counter, reached for a handgun she keeps in the store and fired a number of rounds at Hearn and the other man, Arthur Price, 50.

The woman, whose name was not released, struck Hearn in the leg as the two men fled the store. Hearn fired a shot as he fled but did not strike anyone, Glover said, adding that Hearn’s gun was later found on the sidewalk outside the store.

Price later told police he drove Hearn to University Hospital, where emergency room personnel contacted police when Price dropped off Hearn. Price’s silver Chevrolet Impala was stopped by hospital police, Glover said.

Both men have been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and conspiracy. Hearn was listed in stable condition.

This self-defense shooting follows one earlier in the week where the incredulous suspect reportedly told the business owner that he wasn’t allowed to own a gun in New Jersey, right before the owner shot and killed him.

I can only assume that the far-left liberal Democrats that run Newark are having a conniption fit that these two business owners were able to kill two of their constituents without facing serious jail time.

You’ll note that in both instances that the owners were able to use their firearms effectively and hit their targets, while their “spray and pray” criminal opponents didn’t hit anyone.

Make sure that you do your dry fire practice weekly and hit the range at least once a month, folks. The life you save by keeping your skills sharp may be your own.

Haha!!! That's great. Maybe word will get around.

Why was the woman forced to use a handgun to fight off a man with an AK-47? I thought AK-47s were illegal in NJ? Oh... I see how it works. Only illegal for female business owners, not criminals.

Maybe I missed it, but she was a store owner with a gun? So she could transport from home to store and back only----correct? Also, she shot at a fleeing suspect and NJ was okay with that?

    I'm at a loss...

I thought handguns were useless against someone armed with a rifle. Guess not.

My understanding is she could transport from place or purchase to the fixed place of business she owns and leave it there. Transport to new fixed place of business when moving. I don't think she can take it back and forth to home, but I'm not going verify either.

    WASR=legal in NJ
    Russian AK-47=illegal in NJ
    Bulgarian SLR-1=legal in NJ
    Chinese AK-47=illegal in NJ

AK-47 or any clone=illegal in NJ.

Laws are words not pictures as long as it meets the evil feature requirement. NJ basically operates under the rules of the Clinton assault weapons ban.

Any Ak type/ clone pistol will be illegal due to the weight period. The only AK that is banned by name in NJ is the AK-47 which realy only true AK's are marked hat on the receiver. I should have wrote All AK type pistols are illegal but I thought I stated enough for the reader to come to that conclusion.

And that's exactly the one I said was illegal in my original post

But you are right, she could have fought back with a WASR I suppose.
