Ohio allows PA residents to CCW

Ohio is already an open carry state, just like Pennsylvania. That's how they got concealed carry licenses only about ten years ago.

The Ohio state constitution, like the federal, guarantees a right to bear arms. In a case that went to the Ohio Supreme Court, a man was arrested, charged and convicted of some violation because he was open carrying. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that, because bearing arms is guaranteed by the state constitution, the legislature may regulate the practice but they can't ban it. Since Ohio had a law prohibiting concealed carry, the Ohio Supreme Court [correctly, IMHO] ruled that open carry must therefore be legal and protected, since it was the only mode available with concealed carry being prohibited.

In the wake of this seismic event. the Ohio pro-gun group began organizing open carry events. Eventually the legislature got the message and enacted concealed carry permit legislation so all the soccer moms wouldn't feel "terrorized" by the sight of ordinary people wearing GUNZ!

Bottom line -- open carry is legal in Ohio.

Caveat -- I don't know how this plays out with respect to getting from point A to point B in a car if you don't have a concealed carry license/permit from somewhere.

I already knew OH was an OC state. However the vehicle transport laws still applied. ...which means unless you had a permit/license - the gun couldn't be loaded, and it had to be either locked up, or clearly displayed in a rack(possibly partly disassembled).

Just remember that Ohio is a MUST inform State guys. The first words out of your mouth need to inform the officer that you have a License/permit and that you are armed if you are carrying in your vehicle in Ohio..

Thanks for posting this news. I am pleased to learn of it since I will be working for a week in Ohio this April.

My Florida permit is basically worthless for me then.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad OH is on board with us but it kind of sucks that I paid for and waited for a FL permit just so I could go to OH.
Anyone want to buy a FL permit, used only once.
