Either way once the law is effective anyone with a PA LTCF can carry in OH.

With our AG though I think it we will be hard pressed to get any new reciprocity agreements. But one can hope.
The link above in my original post is from the NRA ILA site. They seem to think it is signed and I have no reason to believe otherwise. The law goes into effect 90 days after the Governor signs it into law and he signed it on December 19.

Kinda defeats the reason I got my Utah and Arizona permits now.

That's ok, they still give me States that I wouldn't have with just my PA permit.

The law is in effect as of March 19 2015.

Now if we could get PA to reciprocate!
    Doesn't matter.

It does to Ohio residents who want to visit PA, which was my take on HarmonyHermit's comment.

"Seem to think" is not good enough for me but it's no skin off my teeth as I have a UT permit anyhow. But the users over at ohioccwforums.org are not in agreement and have all of the same data we have. I lurk there and post sometimes. The level of knowledge there is on par with PAFOA.

The status of the bill has not been updated yet to show an effective date.

If I only had a PA LTCF I would want confirmation directly from the state that the bill is effective before carrying there.

I'm not saying its not the 19th, but I would not bet breaking the law and potentially loosing my rights either.

"Seem to think" are my poorly chosen words. This is the NRA ILA website and their report on the bill which was signed by the governor on Dec 19.https://www.nraila.org/articles/2014...into-law-today

Read it and take from it what you want.

Ohio is already an open carry state, just like Pennsylvania. That's how they got concealed carry licenses only about ten years ago.

The Ohio state constitution, like the federal, guarantees a right to bear arms. In a case that went to the Ohio Supreme Court, a man was arrested, charged and convicted of some violation because he was open carrying. The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that, because bearing arms is guaranteed by the state constitution, the legislature may regulate the practice but they can't ban it. Since Ohio had a law prohibiting concealed carry, the Ohio Supreme Court [correctly, IMHO] ruled that open carry must therefore be legal and protected, since it was the only mode available with concealed carry being prohibited.

In the wake of this seismic event. the Ohio pro-gun group began organizing open carry events. Eventually the legislature got the message and enacted concealed carry permit legislation so all the soccer moms wouldn't feel "terrorized" by the sight of ordinary people wearing GUNZ!

Bottom line -- open carry is legal in Ohio.

Caveat -- I don't know how this plays out with respect to getting from point A to point B in a car if you don't have a concealed carry license/permit from somewhere.
