I love the 7-08 but again same thing just not as severe. During the last ammo crunch 06 and 270 as well as 7mag were every where even Wally world. I do prefer long actions and recoil isn't an issue 95% of the time as long as it isn't an afternoon of sustained fire destroying my barrel. It's going to be one of the two I mentioned with the only other possibility of a 7mag. As I said in an earlier post it will come down to price and the rifle I pick which I would love to have a winchester 70!
You can easily re-form .260 brass or 7mm-08 brass from the .308. That is also and attraction. As you know .308 brass is cheap, and plentiful.

That is true. I thought about it as well, but the brass would be marked different and could possibly get mixed up in some other brass. I have about 4-500 30.06 brass as well as 2-300 270 projectiles which is a good reason to lean in that direction. The thought of adding an obscure caliber just isn't cost effective for me and I'm just not really interested in the 260. The 7-08 I like what I've read but I still prefer the long action calibers.

    Win - win....

Give the edge to the .06 on versatility and chamber pressures....

    But, either one.......
