And people with rolling pins attempting to stop crimes by illegally armed criminals wind up in the morgue. Firearms are the equalizer.

I think that it also needs pointing out that the use of guns in crimes is frequently counted; the use of guns to stop crimes - ie, show the gun and the criminal flees - is usually not counted in any way. In the end, criminal use is tabulated and reported to a higher degree than legitimate defense use that does not result in firearms discharge.

a gun is no more evil than a blender, or a buick. you can use it to protect, you can use it to harm, you can use it for fun (like a lot of us do on paper targets). it's what's in the heart and mind of the person who owns it. do accidents happen? sadly, yes. people get complacent. sort of like people with buicks (blenders...not so much). we can try to educate people in safer ways, but, in the end it is up to them to use this powerful tool wisely.

The symatics of the language has been muddled in the bullshit of the politics. Words have meaning, and words can be used to manipulate people's minds toward a goal. That goal can be for good or evil, depends on the messenger. The gun is nothing but a tool, and like any tool, can build up or tear down, but only in the hands of the user and for his intent. It's not going to do a damn thing by itself lying on the kitchen table untouched.

The biggest problem is people don't know how to think or reason for themselves, instead falling prey to the words of another. Depending on their predisposition to the subject at hand, they can be easily swayed, and conversely, not so easily un-swayed. It's a pretty simple concept to grasp, unfortunately, people like being spoon-fed their ideology by the media so they can "feel good" about their actions, history, law and logic be damned. After all, who could be against clean air, green grass, and the elimination of violence....at any price??? Puppies good-guns bad. See how easy?

The most dangerous type of society is the free society, not the police state. Luckily, we'll soon be "safe" too. Won't that be fun? Let the dumbing down continue, don't screw it up with facts and logic.

If Obama's billion dollar executive action CDC anti-gun report of 2013 says guns save lives at least more often than they are used in crimes, then it's probably undeniable regardless of any philosophical concerns about the words in the expression.

Guns do not kill people or cause crime. Bad people use guns to do so.

Likewise, guns do not save lives or prevent crime. People use guns to do that.
