Palmyra indoor range

I have been thinking of joining the Palmyra Sportsmen Association. The only think preventing me so far is the long drive from Leola area. I figure about 45-50 minutes based on internet, but plan to do test drive soon.

While the club has a lot in the way of facilities, the indoor range is very attractive, especially in colder months. But I am concerned about the quality of their ventilation system, as I don't want a dose of lead poisoning. Would be interested in hearing from those who are members and use indoor range in regard to your opinion of ventilation system. Would be especially interested in hearing from users who also have had their lead blood levels tested.

Any general information or opinions on the club will also be appreciated. Thanks.

I was a member there years ago. It was a great club while I was a member but... I haven't been there in 4 years so I can't say how good it is now. (I don't imagine it declined)

If I lived closer, I'd still be a member.

There is an exhaust fan that can be turned on to pull the residue out of the air

I wish I lived closer as that seems a great feature to have at a range!

The exhaust fan moves the smokey air out fairly well. You push the button and it stays on for 5 minutes.

So if you're there for an hour you have to push the button twelve times if you want to keep the air moving?

If you are there by yourself, probably push it once after about 30-45 minutes of shooting. With a few shooters, maybe press once every 20-30 minutes.

It is their way of not having someone forget and leave it on.

nice club overall with great indoor & outdoor amenities; over the past few years they have sequentially increased the yearly membership fee (either $115 or $125)
after some indoor range repairs, upgrading security access to main building, expanding land acquisitions, and improving law enforcement ranges;

if you plan on using facilites often then the cost is worth it; I was a member for 4 or 5 years and recently felt that I wasn't using club facilities enough to warrant annual fees that I was paying...

I have overheard conversations at our gun club regarding the feared lead poisoning from shooting indoors. And I hate to appear naive or stupid, but I don't understand where the lead to be feared comes from. The smoke is from the gunpowder, right? The lead is in the bullet, right? Is there also lead in the gunpowder? I understand that inhaling smoke is unhealthy, but lead poisoning from gunsmoke?

I do know about the "died of severe lead poisoning" joke, meaning too many bullets lodged in body.
