Default .380 ACP ammo is kind of expensive

I got my Ruger LCP recently, and since then I have been noticing the price of .380 ammo in stores and online.

I can easily buy 50 round boxes of 9mm ammo in well known brands for $13-$16 per box, but it is nearly impossible to find .380 ammo below $22 a box.

During a recent trip to Sportsmans Supply in Butler, PA, their CCI Blazer .380 aluminum case ammo on the shelf was only $1 higher than an off brand that their employee claimed was once fired range brass that has been factory reloaded, which would never go in my gun, who knows what damage the shell cases may have had. And that was still $22 a box!

Best deals I have recently found was Winchester FMJ flat nose 95 grain at WAL-MART for $40 a 100 count Value Pack box (and I am a Wal-Mart hater, so it was hard for me to give them money even for this), and a dealer on gunbroker got me a 300 round battle pack of PMC 90 grain FMJ for $123 plus shipping.

There are many on line sources for less expensive .380 ACP.

Palmetto State Armory has Blazer aluminum on sale for $13.99 per 50 right now. AIM gets PPU .380 in for decent prices.

There are also people who reload .380 for a business like me. If you have brass I can same ya some money. I have 500 380 FMJ's in stock right now. Your looking at $150 otd. If your into coated lead bullets I could always load some of them and save you even more.
www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

I wouldn't be too concerned with professionally reloaded cartridges (but your correct the price is too high). These are not from some guy in his basement, you have to be licensed to sell reloads. Check for reviews, most is just as good or better than the cheap bulk / foreign stuff.

Not worried about shell "damage" ether. I reload everything and for me a brass case is always better and stronger than the aluminum ones. I don't think you can load a brass .380 enough times to retire them (you will lose it first).

Also try some lead bullets in your pistol. They will probably shoot just as good as jacketed and you will save a lot more.

    http://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/1824.htm

Freedom offers both new and remanufactured .380 for decent prices all below $20.00 per 50 rounds. They also offer free shipping for 1st time customers and always have free shipping and ammo sales. They are higher quality and currently the only remanufactured ammunition I shoot. I would shoot this over WWB any day since that seems to cause more dirt and jams for my then it's worth.

Freedom Munitions has 500 rounds of .380ACP 100gr. Round Nose Flat Point, factory new, reloadable brass case for $151.41. In other words $15.14/box.

Or if you just want a box or two it's still only $16.35/box.

Free shipping on all orders through Dec. 15.

Edited to add: Hodgie, you beat me to it while I was typing my post.

I just had this conversation with some fellow shooters. the only thing we can conclude it .380 is just not as popular at 9mm.

There is only one number in 9mm and three numbers in .380ACP, hence the higher cost for .380ACP.
