Re: Federal Gaurd Dog ammo?
Creative marketing at work here... I think it's a politically correct way to sell gut ripping self defense loads. Reality... it's not a hollow point (wink wink), but will still fuck up the perp with an ugly exit wound taking all his entrails out the back.
While the overall diameter of the expanded bullet is going to be slightly less than the maximum diameter of a traditional hollowpoint, the polymer also fills the gaps between the petals, greatly increasing the surface area of the flattened bullet point. Behind the hollow cavity is a standard lead-filled bullet base.

Re: Federal Gaurd Dog ammo?
Crappy ammo IMO. It is basically the EFMJ amo Federal has had around for years. They changed the plastic core color and threw it in a fancy 20rd box.
It is brought up that this bullet is better to limit penetration to be less lethal when going through walls, plywood and etc. Testing has shown that this round can go through those "barriers" with more than plenty of velocity to still kill. Thus it is pointless. A round that is drywall and plywood friendly is also very likely to be crap on actual threats. There are much better carry rounds out there than this round.
