    Default Change Events/General Forum Name

Change the name of the subforum from "General" to "Events - General" and people will stop posting news in it by accident. Presumably.

Holy crap. One of the best suggestions ever and one that shouldn't require a meeting of the subcommittee, talks with union reps, and feedback from the populous.

Maybe even, "Scheduled Events - Other"

"scheduled" being a good discriminator in identifying the purpose of the subforum.

I'm sure they can come up with something.

There is already an EVENTS forum with a General sub forum.

The General sub forum in the Discussion forum can be split into two, one for General firearms talk, and another for General firearms news, which would include local and national news.

As far as posting in the General 'firearms talk' sub forum, there are still going to be threads posted that have no topic based on firearms. It is what makes us human, and differentiates us from those species that have no use for the internet.

I think you missed the point entirely.

The fact that there's a "General" sub forum in the Events section IS the problem mentioned in the OP.

People see "General" and they just post their "general firearm talk" THERE - in the EVENTS section - because the name is too vague and they don't realize it's in the events section.

    Happens a lot.

Dan and I are looking into this. We need to make sure that renaming a sub-forum won't have any unintended side-effects. One would think this is something we should be able to do without wreaking havoc on the forum, but we'd like to be extra careful; we don't wanna Rotz anything up.
