And yes...I know...you can argue said buck was hit on the other side and the arrow never did a pass thru. True....but seriously, how many times does this happen? (I'm not going to argue or discuss this point).

But simply stated....there is no exit or entrance wound. Nor...is there included in the picture a hunter's bow or crossbow. It's rare that a bow hunter doesn't include this in the pic.

Now....here we have Sherlock Holmes on the case!!! And why do I say this? Because this is why you see no entrance or exit wound, nor a pic of a bow or crossbow.

As the "story" goes....this big boy was chasing a doe...and he crossed the road and was in fact hit by a car. But the buck kept on going. However, sometime later the buck decided he wanted to cross back over the road, and when the big buck did this...he was hit by car #2 and then turned back to the house where he dropped in the front yard and died.

So...."Enter" the cammo clad fellow in the pic. This guy calls the PGC and ask them what it cost to keep said buck....rack and all. When he found out what it would cost to keep the rack.....he just slapped his tag on it.....and said...."this is my buck."

That's my understanding from a very reliable source.

I think it is $5/point. If so that's still pricy for road kill. Depending on how busted up it is you may not get much meat but you won't know until you open him up.

It appears to be $10 per point. http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/ind...es_pa_man.html So, with the deer being an 11 point, it would have cost this guy $110 to keep the rack.

I'm not sure if he is allowed to legally tag a road kill that he didn't kill. Or if he's even allowed to tag a road kill that he did kill.

Back in the spring one evening I was riding my motorcycle on Boxcartown Rd in the Harrison City area and that sure looks like a buck I saw standing on the left side of the road in a field. Quite a rack on him!

This buck was killed (when hit by the second car) when attempting to cross back over the road onto the property owned by the Harrison City Fire department. Where the FD has their picnic area. Apparently the buck got hit by the car, was spun and went up to the residence and died in the front yard.

It's too bad a vehicle ended it's life instead of a archery hunter. OTOH, I know from living in this area there is a good gene pool for large rack bucks. I'm sure this big guy has passed on his gene's to other doe's this year and in previous years. More to come from this area.
