As long as you can deal with the carbine buffer, that should do you just fine.

By "deal with" do you mean the "noise" that I was previously complaining about, or do you mean "felt recoil"? (or something else entirely)

I think I'm just getting greedy and willing to forego the "better" kit in order to get two basic kits for the same monies.

Felt recoil, life of parts, etc. I don't know that a heavier buffer (in isolation) with help with noise.

Run the unmarked buffers from the kits you are looking at. Change them only if there is a problem or you want to try running a heavier buffer.

I ordered a Spikes buffer kit with the ST-T2 buffer.

I was ready to order a complete Anderson buffer kit/stock package when it went out of stock.
I waited several days for it to be restocked and then saw the Spikes go on sale so I just ordered it.
Ten minutes later the other place sent me an email to let me know the Anderson package was back in stock. LOL!

Now all I need is the charging handle and someone to show me how to remove the handguard to install the free float tube and I'm in business!

The Spikes is nice I have one. All my 5.56 rifles have the ST-T2 buffer and run everything, including steel cased. If the buffer ends up being a little heavy you can remove some of the tungsten powder to reduce the weight. The ST-T2 is a little heavier (.3oz) than an H buffer but .6oz lighter than an H2 buffer.

My charging handle arrived so now I'm ready to give him a call to finally get this bitch assembled!

    QUESTION:

If I can't get him to hit it with a rock does anyone know if I need special tools to install a free float hand guard?
My upper is a PSA with the standard (although larger, "oval" type) hand guards and I have a YHM "Todd Jarrett" handguard with the cutout on top for the front sight.

Aside from that, I will need to install a RRA 2-Stage trigger in the lower (which already has a parts kit installed MINUS trigger group), and I need to install the buffer tube.

    Can't wait!

Edit: Here's a link to the YHM part if that helps answer my question.

If it uses a standard barrel nut you should be able to do it without any special tools. Well provided you can get the tube over the gas block. I run all flat top uppers so it's a lot easier than a sight front base

Ugh. I sort of forgot about the front sight. I don't see how you could slip that hand guard on with the sight on.
Looks like I need to find someone who knows how to do it because I really don't want to mess with taking that off myself.

this clip and PDF are pretty good. Given the right tools, it's not a huge deal.
