I will brag that I am a UN-EXPERT on blaze orange.

For 10 years I was illegal hunting groundhogs.

    YOU SAY WHY ! ! !

Look at the picture then read the fine print in the Hunting & Trapping Digest. One of these caps is a no-no.

Today, as the first day of the rest of my life, I am finally a legal groundhog hunter.

fossil------and No, it is not because one cap is dirty.

Because your hat must have a minimum of 100 square inches of SOLID orange.
I do not know if that means that it can have absolutely no adornment on it.
Perhaps RWJ could help clarify that.

    Remington:

I posted a thread on 9/24/2014 called 'A hat is a hat' (maybe). This had to do with a blaze orange cap----Somewhere in the thread (18 replies 790 hits), I think it was turning into a lesson on Quantum Mechanics. I had to duck out, it was way above my pay grade.

To play it safe, I purchased, without adornments, a solid blaze orange cap.

    It was a fun thread.

I remember that thread, because my cap also has some company name stitched into it, in small letters. The thread got Way to complicated for me too.

Looking at my cap, it is made of 6 triangular panels. The panels are 6.5" on two of the side and 3.75" on the bottom. I found this online calculator that tells me the panel is 11.67 square inches. 6 panels is 70 square inches. The visor is a bit over 3x7 or 21 inches, plus a bit around the curve. 91 total.

I would thinks that unless the design took up a lot of space, or really obscured the orange that it would pass. Do WCOs carry tape measures and calculators to determine the exact size of a hat? What about a youth size hat? Or a knit ski cap?

I could just get one of these for my head

1-op you were req to wear blaze while in archery when moving. (walking)
The hat, the regs are the same as the jacket- min amount on blaze.
I've gone through several checks with WCO's and they just wanted to make sure I had a lic.
