Default Bozo the clown has died

    http://www.comcast.net/articles/tv/2...3/Obit.Harmon/

LOS ANGELES — Larry Harmon, who turned the character Bozo the Clown into a show business staple that delighted children for more than a half-century, died Thursday of congestive heart failure. He was 83.

His publicist, Jerry Digney, told The Associated Press he died at his home.

Although not the original Bozo, Harmon portrayed the popular clown in countless appearances and, as an entrepreneur, he licensed the character to others, particularly dozens of television stations around the country. The stations in turn hired actors to be their local Bozos.

Fortunately for Youtube, many are still with us, and others resurrected. Here's a flashback if you were around in the 70s.

Some people have a fear of clowns, not just kids but adults. I have met several people over the last few years and was very surprised that so many had this fear.

    From wikipedia:

Coulrophobia is an abnormal or exaggerated fear of clowns. It is not uncommon among children, but is also sometimes found in teenagers and adults as well. Sufferers sometimes acquire a fear of clowns after having a bad experience with one personally, or seeing a sinister portrayal of one in the media. A design study carried out by the University of Sheffield found that children are frightened by clown-themed décor in hospitals. This fear can arise from seeing a clown in person, or in pictures

I never had a fear, I just never found them remotely funny. I never understood what people found amusing about clowns, or anything else at the circus.
