AR pistol choices
I will be building a pistol in the coming months and the one thing that I am most unsure with are the uppers. I will be buying an upper already assembled but want your advice. What seems to be a popular length, forearm and anything else that distinguishes these choices from each other? Thanks for the advice on advance.

Re: AR pistol choices
If you are planning on going suppressed 10.5" is the suggested shortest for reliability. I have a 10.5" and a 7.5". They are both fun and have different purposes. Anything over 12.5" gets a little heavy and defeats the purpose of a pistol IMO. I wouldn't say one upper or part is more popular than another. There are many companies and hundreds of combinations. Some companies are preferred more than others though. Its pretty much personal preference. I added some links for you. Some are budget friendly, some are excellent companies, and some are right in the middle with a good value.

Re: AR pistol choices
depends on what you want... I have several but the extar is by far the lightest and easiest to shoot like a pistol. https://newfrontierarmory.com/shop/e...weight-pistol/

Re: AR pistol choices
Thanks for the advice. As for the extar, I am planning on getting a Sig Brace, so that one would be out of the question. But with a folding stock that would make one little bad ass SBR.

Re: AR pistol choices
I got my upper from www.radicalfirearms.com, they sell out quick but you can get an AR pistol + sig brace for $599. www.primaryarms.com also sells the rf pistol for the same price.

Re: AR pistol choices
If we ever stop taking in stray dogs, one of these (or an AK pistol) are on my priority list, so I'm going to tag along and try to pick up on the pointers and ask questions too!
I'm personally not worried about accuracy beyond 50 yards and would likely employ it as a home defense gun (with arm brace) for its maneuverability indoors.
At the moment a suppressor isn't in the plans, but if I could add one and still be SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than a 16" carbine, I'd consider one down the road.
If it's only gong to shave 2" off it's not worth a whole new gun. If money were not a factor, I'd build one for every need, but that isn't the case.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
