Going to be using my Marlin 1894 in .44 magnum with Hornady 225 grain LEVERevolution flex tips. I'll leave the Remington 760 Gamemaster .30-06 at home this year. I switch off from year to year, no particular reason, but as I get older, the Marlin is lighter. I have it sighted in at 50 yards. I mostly hunt the thick woods but some fields also. This is an older Marlin that was made in North Haven, Conn.

Me too. I can't count how many deer I've taken with my .30-30. Being a south paw I never had many choices, so I just stuck with what was working. The new hornady ammo really changed everything. Last year I took a doe at 225yds. maybe a bit closer to 250, but I'm not sure.

However with the popularity of the Savage Axis ,easily available in a left handed bolt, I finally bumped up to a .308. I'm eager to try it out.

My buddy and I have each tagged a button buck and doe this season- I with the compound and him with the crossbow.

We will both be out Monday with Remington 870's. Hoping to get to Wicens to sight in my new scope setup, otherwise I will be out with the 20 gauge (bead sight) or Mossy 835 & buckshot

I ALMOST bought a .308 Axis now that the local Wallyworld stocks them...would have been a complete impulse buy. But then I realized...what could I even use it for here in 5C!?

I have 2 stands where I need to reach out, so if its raining, my Remy stainless in 7mm08 or T/C venture in 308 gets to go. I have one stand thats real tight, my S&W 629 goes with me when I choose that stand. If I fail on Monday to connect and weather is good on Tues, I have a brand new Browning in 264 win mag I want to try. Good hunting to all and stay safe.

Nice rifle, I've been passively search for an older Marlin in a pistol caliber.

For some reason I'd figured you'd say something like .257 Roberts or .25-06. I'm eager to give the .264 a try too.
