Infroming the uninformed
I keep seeing a common thread running thoughout the ... err, threads involving LEOs. In most cases the police are woefully uninformed about the state of open carry legality.
Which got me to thinking, before I decide to open carry, would it be wise for me to send letters detailing the pertinent codes to the local state police barracks, the county sheriffs office and the local city police Chief?
Would attempting to inform the uninformed prevent a potential Dickson City?A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Re: Infroming the uninformed
I'm beginning to think the LEOs that act as uniformed are either informed and don't want to accept it or are being forced by superiors to act that way. In any event the MPOETC needs to amend their training syllabus. Perhaps the Dickson City thing will give them some added pressure to do it. After it's all said and done, if I was the Mayor or CLEO I would be screaming for a change. I don't think they will do it now as it would add more heat to the case against them.
I suspect our best bet would be to inform as many DA and CLEO as possible as to the outcome of the case. Perhaps even have the DA involved in the case to send out letters to all the other counties giving them a heads up on what is in store for them if they don't get it right.

I would imagine something like that would work out best if it was sent as high up on the chain of command as possible. I would wager that if it was sent directly to the LEO's walking the beat, they would take it one of two ways. They would either be upset that a civilian is telling them their job and ignore it because "they know better", or they would find it an interesting read but have nothing change because the word didn't come from a higher-up.
