What if you had to draw your gun and perp flees?
I was just wondering about a possible situation that caused you to have to draw your gun and the perpetrator/s fled. Is it advisable to call the cops? I know I would if the person had a gun or knife and tried to rob me or something. But what about a person or persons that make a threatening gesture of some kind, you didn't see a weapon or see their face/s well, and then fled? What could the cops do even if you did call? I'm thinking you should call just to protect yourself in case the perp/s try to call and report you as the one threatening them with a gun.
Just thinking out loud. Any input greatly appreciated.

For me it would depend on the whole situation. I'm not one to invite police presence into my life, and if nothing really happened, then what are they going to do about it anyways?

If you ever draw your gun on somebody, call the police IMMEDIATELY. The first person to call them is perceived to be the victim. If the person you drew your gun on decides to call the police and make up a story, you will be the one on the defensive.

I think you have a duty to apprehend someone whom may present a future danger to anothers life, so if the perpetrator flees, give chase and call cops.

This is the worst advise of all with the exception of call the cops.
If it were me. I'd probably report it. Just so the police would increase patrols in the area (hopefully). Then go home and have drink, and be thankful I didn't have to kill some stupid thug. Or spend the next few weeks or months dealing with the police and lawyers.NRA Endowment Member, N-SSA #9526v

Re: What if you had to draw your gun and perp flees?
In my opinion it depends. A complete stranger to me and I might just find my vehicle and drive away. I agree with the others that have said the perp could call first and cause all sort of problems. I also have little faith in authority. By calling I could very well be opening my own doorway to hell. Seen here on PAFOA when experiences have been shared.
It would depend on the totality of the circumstances
