Default Half of gun deaths are suicides...

I can't believe I just saw this headline. Gun laws are protecting gun owners from themselves!

Yeah, all the gangbangers must be shooting themselves. The tough part is explaining the multiple gunshot wounds.

The statistics stated are either outright lies or have been spun so far as to be misleading.

I was thinking that that stat does actually does harm to the arguments of gun control proponents. Fewer innocents being killed, if don't considerthe suicides as innocents. You have alot of gang bangers killing each other, (not too innocent,) and then you have all the suicides. What's left? A couple of stray bullets hitting bystanders?

Very strange stat, also reported on CNN. So is this a pro-control stat or not?

    I read the article.
I believe some of the research was later found to contain faulty statistics.
Seems like most of the research was done during the Klinton regime.

The info can't be real. How in the name of all that which is right can there be more suicides than homicides. Especially when you are talking about the country and not an area. The very reason I make my own decisions, you can't trust the media.

It is intended to be a pro-control stat. The message is don't buy a gun for your own protection even just in the home because . . . you'll put your eye out.

The statistic defies common experience at least to my mind -- in other words it simply can't possibly be true if taken as stated. In my environment, there's a murder on average each and every day. Drug dealers fighting over turf. Drug buyers failing to pay up. Gangbangers and thugs killing each other over some perverted view of "disrespect." Sprinkled in there very rarely are the armed robbery that turns into murder, domestic that turns into a killing, and extremely rarely a suicide situation. There is no way that half of the deaths caused by improper use of guns are suicides. Maybe like a few out of several hundred?

Ban Ropes. Most suicides I hear about are hangings.

If suicides really are that big of a portion of gun-related deaths, that's a good thing, relatively speaking. It means a few things:

    1. People are killing themselves, for whatever reason, not others.
    2. Guns must be very good, reliable tools for them to be used so preferentially in suicides.
    3. The media is essentially arguing that if you own a gun, you're more likely to commit suicide, when the opposite is true (gun owners on the whole are happier and live longer lives than those who don't own guns).
Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.
Twice the mayhem, triple the force.
Ten times the action, total hardcore.
