Guns Used in Suicides...Would You Buy One?
http://www.abc27.com/story/27161669/...ed-in-suicides
A western Pennsylvania coroner is auctioning off about 100 guns used in suicides and accidental shooting deaths.
Corner Ken Bacha says the Nov. 8 surplus weapons sale is Westmoreland County government's first since his father was coroner in the 1980s."A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself"

I wonder if they are including the particulars of the incident with each firearm or just that it was used in a suicide.
If the price was right and something I was looking for I would.

Re: Guns Used in Suicides...Would You Buy One?
One of my jobs as a firearms instructor was to verify functionality of firearms that were used in such a manner. The crime guy would bring it to me and I'd have to glove up and give it going over while trying to keep the schmutz off of my uniform.
I wouldn't think so but who knows. They may still be in the evidence boxes which will contain information."A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself"

Yes, if the price is right and it is something I wanted.
It's not the tool, but the person that had the issues... I don't see it as anything different than buying used milsurp stuff.
Imagine if firearms could tell their story.

Re: Guns Used in Suicides...Would You Buy One?
My father had a Savage .32 pistol when I was younger. One side of it had some previous rust damage. He told me he that he was told it came from a police auction and it supposedly was found in a dead guys hand. The rust side was the one against the ground. I always wondered if there was any truth to the story or just some good salesmanship to sell a poorly cared for pistol.

Nope, cause one they get a taste of owner's blood, they can't be trusted again.

Re: Guns Used in Suicides...Would You Buy One?
I wouldn't have a problem owning one. However, I have a few questions. Where does the money from the purchase go? Do the families of the deceased generally surrender the gun to the authorities voluntarily? Is it taken from them by the authorities? This might be insensitive, but why don't they get the gun back, and if they don't want it back, why isn't the money gotten from its purchase given to them?
What is the transfer process of these guns? Were they properly transferred to the coroner? I wouldn't be purchasing a "stolen" gun which would later be confiscated from me for an illegal transfer in its past, would I?
