Who is chief law enforcement officer in Allegheny county?
My C&R license application came back from ATF, they require to indicate who is the chief LEO. I live in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. Who would be the chief LEO in the eyes of ATF: Sheriff of Allegheny county or Chief of Pittsburgh PD? Thank you.

Hmmm. Found this on the web...

Since you are in Sq. Hill, I'd probably say that would be City of Pittsburgh Police Chief. http://www.city.pittsburgh.pa.us/pol...he_chief.html\
By the way, I live in Regent Square...so we're almost neighbors.

I sent an email to the Allegheny Co. DAs office asking why their website said that Zappala is the CLEO.

I just tossed one to Mullens office also, basically the exact same just switched where the names went in. I don't know that it even really matters but they should probably sort that one out before they are at a dinner and someone introduces the CLEO of Allegheny Co. and they both stand up and start beating eachother with chairs.

I always thought the Sheriff was the CLEO in every county.
To my knowledge DA's don't enforce law.
Correct me if I'm wrong please.Last edited by DaveM55; July 1st, 2008 at 02:44 PM.

Hmmmm this gets more interesting. From the PA AG website:
"Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General
Attorney General Tom Corbett is Pennsylvania's top law enforcement official, with a wide range of responsibility to protect and serve the citizens and agencies of the Commonwealth".
And from the US AG website:
"Office of the Attorney General
The Judiciary Act of 1789 created the Office of the Attorney General which evolved over the years into the head of the Department of Justice and chief law enforcement officer of the Federal Government".
I don't know, man
