New to PA, how to get a CCW

Ok so I know the basics of how to apply but here are some questions,

I live in Pitt so I go to Allegheny sheriff?

Does Allegheny have a minimum residency requirement?

Do my two references have to live in Allegheny and/or PA?

My PA address is across the street from a school,but I don't go there, will this cause problems?

You submit application to the the sheriff, do you pick up from them as well?

We call them "Pittsburgh" and "Allegheny Country," respectively.

Does Allegheny have a minimum residency requirement?

Not that I know of, my daughter did it after living here for less than two months, officially, but I could be wrong. You just need a DL and a second form of government ID that shows residency like a voter registration card or hunting license. No, your passport doesn't count.

Mine live in Kentucky and West "by Gawd" Virginia, so no.

Why would that cause a problem.

Welcome to Pennsylvania. The process may be a lot faster if you have a form of carry license from another state. When I came back to PA from IL, I stopped in Bellefonte, Centre County. I filled out the application, gave them some moolah, and they accepted my FOID card as a form of carry license. The FOID card is not a carry license. At that time, carrying a firearm for self defense was a felony in the state of Illinois.

If you are a PA resident and can prove it (drivers license), you can apply without any need to show a carry license from another state. If you were a resident from NJ and were denied a NJ permit (de facto no issue) you would be boned.

I waited 10 or 15 minutes. They then printed the card out. I asked if it was effective immediately, to which the clerk responded 'yup'. I then went back to my car and saddled up

Yep. My daughter's application (no license anywhere) took as long to process as my renewal. Including time in the postal system, one week.
