    Default Help With A Ruger SP101 2"

I have one, but I am not pleased with its accuracy, I can not hit the target at 25 yds bench resting the pistol.

I tried someone else's today, same exact gun and was able to do this at 25 yds bench rest, so I know it's not me, but the gun.

If I send it back, can something be done?

Check the muzzle crown to see if there is any roughness. If the powder flash ring is uneven there is a problem. If you have been shooting lead maybe the barrel or forcing cone are leaded.

Empty gun and triple check for clear. Cock and drop the hammer, and keep the trigger held all the way back. Grasp the cylinder with your left hand and try to wiggle it around. You should feel a bit of movement, but if you can actually see it wiggle, it has a lockup issue.

Agree with previous post also. Check the muzzle crown and forcing cone for any gouging or pitting. You can also take the pistol to a trusted gunsmith and have them give it a quick once-over.

Id say you could send it to Ruger, and they would probably fix it, but Im just coming off a very bad experience with their customer support, so Id say if a gunsmith cant find the issue, and your not dead set in love with the gun, sell it.

Did you buy it new or used? The barrel would appear to be torqued past center, that should make it shoot off to one side. If purchased new I would contact Ruger, if bought used that might not be an option. We tried to return a S&W one time and were told that it had been butchered, no warranty.

New or used just return it to Ruger. I do not believe that Ruger really cares that the handgun was purchased new or used.

I have read of a couple poor experiences people have had with Ruger customer service but I also have read many more accounts of great customer service. I am a new SP-101 owner. In fact today was my first range trip with it and I love it. I also have a 4in GP-100 which is great as well.

I believe that i there is a mechanical problem with your SP-101 that Ruger will fix it.

Give it a try. Good luck.

No, I bought it new, and just thought I had to live with it shooting that way, until I shot another one. I'll contact them and see what happens... This will be my first time dealing with Ruger like this.

By your pics, the barrel is canted. Call Ruger customer support. If bought new they should send the material needed to send it to them at no cost. If bought used they may or may not but even if they don't they will explain how to get it to them and if any charges would apply.

    BUMP

I got it back from Ruger, here's what was done to it:

    Barrel - Repaired
    Crane - Repaired
    Trigger Guard - Replaced
    Cyc Rel Button - Repaired
    Hammer Dog - Replaced
    Internal components - Replaced

    Pretty messed up, right?
