wilderness medical course
Anyone know if there is place in the area that teaches a wilderness medical course kind of like the one described here ?

The instructor I know, the local organization I am not sure of, but I was asked if I was willing somewhere in Lancaster.

Re: wilderness medical course
Interestingly enough, I contacted the Lebanon Red Cross about this roughly a year ago. The guy said he knew they had such a course but didn't have it on his schedule and would get back with me. Obviously he never did, and I felt like if it wasn't important enough for him to get back with me, they didn't want my money.

Re: wilderness medical course
Maybe we can get something going and post it over in the training thread. That should help fill up the class

Re: wilderness medical course
The post referenced in the OP was the Western Rifle Shooters's Association Wilderness and Austere Environment Medical Course. It is led by a group of medical folk, including a retired emergency physician, and is designed for motivated folks for when the hospital is "down and out" for an extended period of time.
It does a fair amount of " advanced" skills, such as those in the combat medic program, and a fair amount of wound care, like beginning suturing (stitching).
There are other "wilderness" first aid type courses that preume the "grid" is still up, and train you to deal with the problem for hours, instead of days and weeks.
Once such course can be contracted through CPRHEARTSTARTERS.com
The WRSA course is listed in the OP reference, and the co-ordinators have been invited here to help facilitate arrangements.
An inexpensive room with power for 2 1/2 days is essential. Any offers?

Why don't you drop me a note at bloviate@hotmail.com? I am working with another PA fellow and would like to get the PA team together to lock in dates.
