Default Pittsburgh City Council Meeting (August 5th?) Attendance

Please vote in this poll if you plan on attending the August 5th Pittsburgh City Council Meeting.

    Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.
    Tuesday August 5, 2008
(Tentative date - Waiting for them to announce the next meeting date)

Lunch will be at the Banksville Eat N' Park afterwords.

Meetings are held at the City-County Building: 414 Grant St., Pittsburgh.

Residents of the City are given preference to speak first at the public comments session, and each person has three minutes in which to make their statement.

I've also written to my local councilman about this. I'll post any response I get back.

I encourage any resident of the city to do the same:

I should also point out that due to the high cost of parking in Downtown Pittsburgh, it would be best if we all met at my place (just outside Downtown) and consolidated into as few cars as possible. I have room in my driveway to park several cars, as well as on the street.

Those of you interested in doing this, let me know here.

There are a few things going on behind the scenes that might make delaying a mass turnout more meaningful if done next month, when the full scope can be addressed, rather than limited points due to lack of time to plan and fluidity of the situation.

The council meeting on Tuesday is probably not going to work, logistically, for numerous reasons.

We need to establish/clarify a few things as well as plan the addressing of multiple issues on this. 1) hassling of law abiding citizens and 2) preempted ordinance.

I think it best we start planning for next months meeting so it can be more organized and more people can plan on attending. Especially those from the east that want to go but need to put in time-off and arrange car-pool, etc...

This stuff is going on behind the scenes right now.
I'm busy (up to my neck actually) today working on the Wilkes-Barre city council meeting coming up in 2 weeks as well as Pittsburgh and another incident.

Lets go slow and calculated. Definitely discuss it here, online as well and we'll update when we hash out some of the ideas being worked on off-list.

good that it wont be Tuesday, I am in for when it is though. More than likely you can count in Annie and lil'buck as well as a 50/50 on lil'sis.

If we get a date for this soon is it possible someone can announce it at the PMSC meeting on the first Wed of the month?

I will help how and if I can.

    What are our needs?

I want to add that I am not, in any way trying to say that people should not attend Pitt city council meeting, on their own accord... That's your right and will not hurt others effort.

I just want to point out hat a concerted effort is already being planned, just that it will be for next month, not his month due to limitations beyond our control.

As such I recommend that we hold off and all try and be a force of one, next month, as it has a greater potential of achieving the result we desire.

    I will be there.

If we need an additional car I can carry 2-3 people. If we are good (and the bike is put hack together) I will ride in to save on parking.

Could someone local please confirm the street address for Pittsburgh City Hall? I'm presuming that's where the Council meetings are held.
