    Default 1911 feed ramp question

    whats better?
Ramped feed ramp or original GI style in term of reliability?
I was always told that ramped is more reliable with JHP, but my old SA GI model with GI style feed ramp fed everything and anything I've fed, and never jammed in anyway, but my Para Ordenance with ramped feed ramp sometimes hangup on JHP(even with ball ammo once in the super blue moon).

Only other thing I could think of is that ramped feed ramp provide more case support then GI style, although, internal pressure of 45acp is low enough, prolly makes no difference regardless(may made difference with high pressure round like 38super..)

I ask, because I'm thinking about buying another 1911 (SA loaded SS), and my better half told me that if I want another 1911, I have to trade my para in(), so I'm debetaing with the idea which is better

Shouldn't make a difference in reliability if things are set up right. Nice to have a fully supported barrel though.

In .45, I'd go with the standard style and fully supported in any other caliber.

I have both and have not had any feed problems with either of them. As long as it is within specs it should feed everything. You may have a weak mag spring in the Para that could be causing your feed problems.

There was a recent article in Handgunner magazine re; 1911 mags and feed problems. You could probably find it on line.
