Father of cycle fatality: Police should have let him go!
Talk about a complete lack of accepting responsibility! The police should have called off the chance when he was breaking the law... nice
http://www.poconorecord.com/apps/pbc.../NEWS/80626008The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Gimmee a break dude. If your son weren't acting like an assclown then he'd still be alive. If the tree were planted somewhere else he'd still be alive. So why not sue the gardener while were at it????

“I think they should have broken the chase off much further back,” he said, pointing out that his son was not wearing a helmet.
Trooper Satkowski said troopers are not required to stop a pursuit if the driver is not wearing a helmet.

I saw that in the paper. Welcome to today`s society. Hey I know some of you are over near E`burg. Where`s the Prudential building on 209? A really nice kid I know was killed there on his scooter last Thursday.

What the paper does not say is he had more than a few arrests for DUI and reckless driving and had just finished a 6 month stint in the County lock up. Also the driver lost control when he tried going from Tresslerville Road across Rt 296 to Chivers Rd which drops off from 296 and goes directly into a turn.

I've got no sympathy. The kid choose to try and elude police, the family needs to face the reality that their son wasn't the little angel they want to think he was, and HIS ACTIONS resulted in his death, not the police's.

Most bikers on crotch rockets think they can outrun a cruiser and lose them pretty quick in high traffic areas. This idiot went for it. The cops should do a seperate investigation, show the family the video of what their kid did and tell them exactly why he isn't alive today.
Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you.You are a straight white man. You don't get to be the victim, sweetie.

I do not feel any remorse at all for the kid. The Father needs to wake up and realize that his son is dead because because he did it to his self. I do however, feel bad for the LEO's involved. They now have more paperwork and have to deal with the aftermath of someone that has been killed. I see these clowns on crotch rockets all the time buzzing through traffic, going at high speeds, and just being reckless. Nope, I just don't feel sorry for him at all.

Re: Father of cycle fatality: Police should have let him go!
Unless the family can prove the trooper had no legitimate reason to make the stop, the kid had no legitimate reason to flee.
When you do illegal things, bad things can happen. Unfortunate outcome but the kid has to take responsibility for his own actions. Sometimes the hard way.
I think we need to keep an eye on the suit. If the trooper can be successfully sued, what we are really saying is that the police have a civil legal duty to let fleeing suspects go if the suspects might get hurt. I really don't want to see things go there. I actually think the whole concept is beyond ridiculous.
