Default Range Brass and a Glock

I have been reloading for about 6 months now. I often use range brass for 9mm, 45 ACP, and .223. I always clean and check all brass to assure it is not cracked and damaged.

Talking with a friend, he tells me that it is unsafe to reload any brass fired in a Glock. So my reloads are not safe because some of the brass i pick up might have been fired through a Glock, eventhough i am shooting a P1, a 92FS, and a 1911.

I tried to search the net and i found that everyone has an opinion and i wanted to hear yours.

Just a note about my reloading....i throw out any brass i am not sure about. I also have noticed the little buldge or bump in brass fired through a Glock. However when i resize the brass it will remove the bump and when shooting the brass the bump does not return.

    Any opinions?

I don't see what the Glock would do to brass that would make it unreloadable. If there are not cracks or splits you should be able to resize them just fine. Most deformations will come out when you resize and if it doesn't, you toss it in the scrap bucket.

Glocks do not fully support the casing, so when fired you will get the "bump". The cut out at the rear bottom of the chamber is relieved to accommodate the feed ramp. If the first sizing die sizes the full case, you should be okay. Try loading just a few rounds and cycle them through your gun.

I think somewhere along the line there was a misunderstanding. What should have been said was that reloaded brass is not necessarily safe to fire through a Glock. As Glocks don't tend to support the brass as well as other guns to make feeding more reliable. As the brass gets weaker it can cause a Kaboom and destroy your Glock or worse.

Glocks and their lousy case support can cause some "minor" problems

The 9mm Glocks have fully supported chambers. Its the other calibers that don't have the fully supported chambers.
