thats interesting plugging the barrel and filling it to the top with solvent, i may try that also if all else fails im gonna try the copper foam remover and soak it overnight my rifle is new, i only shot 30 rounds in it last year and 7 yesterday im gonna buy a box of winchester silvertips and only gonna use that from now on cuz the lubalox coating on the bullet prevents barrel fouling and reduces engraving force it mite be expensive but saves the hassle of scrubbing the barrel clean of copper!

Not sure how such a low round count is fowling a new barrel so bad. Is the bore that rough? Are you scrubbing with a bronze brush? That leaves bronze streaks you know. Plastic won't but it can be harder on bores. You need to let solvent work over night. Hoppies no9 will do it if let saturated not filled up. JB bore compound will do it fast. You may be worrying about nothing. You can over clean a bore. If it is rough you could fire lap it.

Being cheap, I mean frugal, I utilize the homemade route whenever I can.

Homemade electric bore cleaner has worked well for me.

The unit I made only utilizes one "D" battery and I have only used dilute solution with it. Has worked well.
However study all the warnings of using such a unit. Not for routine use.

As the astute MR. Guns n water stated it's probably bore brush residue and not copper fouling. Are the patches coming out blue green? I can't imagine heavy copper fouling with 37 rounds.......

Make sure your aren't fooling yourself into cleaning fiddlefuckitis!

I always sleep with my guns when you are gone

You lost me on your reply. The OP asked about copper fouling and your reply stated that " Pentax scopes are known for it". Known for copper fouling or ...?

I detected sarcasm in that response, but my sarcasm detector / generator is finely tuned and very effective. YMMV.

That's true. Usually when my gun barrel gets any kind of copper fouling, I just trash it and buy a new rifle. Yeah...true that.

I made one of these and used it to clean out my Mosin and an old .22
It worked like a charm but you have to be careful and read up on it before trying it.

I let the copper get too heavy in the first 300 Win mag rifle I purchased years ago. No matter how much I ran a patch through it, I kept getting foul. A close friend of mine told me he soaked the barrel of a 7.92 x 57 (8mm Mauser) that wouldn't shoot straight no matter what he did. It solved the problem. I let my barrel go for two full days and it cleaned up afterwards with an oil patch; clean as a whistle. I've been doing it ever since, when I get lazy, and always get the same results, plus, I reuse the solution 3 or 4 times before putting it in my used auto oil for recycling.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

i used a bore bristle brush last year it got it clean this year its worst after 7 shots, ther bore looks rough but not the rifling, its strange coming from a prestigious rifle like the 700, im getting frustrated with it every time i go shoot it.

im hoping it smooths out soon cuz its the worst copper fouling i ever had to clean in any rifle or pistol i ever owned.
