Default Question about bringing a shot gun from NY to PA

Hi, I have a question about bringing an out of state long arm into the state of PA. My family and I are looking into buying a vacation home in Honesdale PA. We have looked at a few and we're very close to purchasing it. I have a NYC address on my NY driver license. I can pass the NICS background check no prob. If I was to buy a shotgun in NY (not in NYC) and bring it and keep it in my vacation home in Honesdale PA will this be considered legal?

There is no registration in PA.

Bringing your shotgun here is fine, be sure to follow all transport laws.

Also, you can buy a long gun from a FFL in Pa.

You may wish to consult with an attorney in case there are special restrictions on NYC residents. Wouldn't hurt, especially if you pass through New Jersey en route.

    Disregard this^^^^ post.

New York has more restrictive gun laws than Pennsylvania. I don't believe there is a shot gun you can purchase in NY which is illegal to possess in PA. It will have to be unloaded while in your car.

While it is true that you can purchase long arms in PA from an FFL, if you do so with your NY ID, you'll be legally limited to those that are legal in your home state. So, you'll be able to drool over some stuff in PA LGS that aren't SAFE ACT approved.

You're good. Our son drove down from upState with his rifle in the trunk to bring it back to the land of the free, and here it stays.

Flushing is in Queens, a borough of NYC. NYC requires a permit to purchase and keep long guns, which is not required in the rest of the state. The long gun would have to be kept at the summer home. IANAL.

I think it may depend on how many months they are at their vacation home.

Wouldn't there be a way they could be considered dual residents depending on their time spent at their PA home that they own?

    Just wondering.
