Every compromise is us giving them something. Wait you are right! Think about it guys. By doing this no criminals will be able to have guns. It actually makes sense. One more hoop to jump through for honest citizens and we will be able to prevent every felon from getting a gun! Seems like a small price to pay. Then the government can keep all the background check info and have a list of all guns so if it is stolen and found they will know who to return it to.
