I left my Gun home today.
The wife and I had company up at the lake today. I left my guns home because the visitors have two young boys. One is autistic, and the other is , well, just plain out of control.
At home I have a safe to put them in, but up at the lake I have no secure storage.
I have been to their home on several occasions and I have carried.
At the lake I have many things to concentrate on, and keeping an eye on the boys while I am doing those things is more than I can keep up with.
It's a shame that I can't have control over someone elses kids like I do my own, but with the autism (which I know little about) I thought it was a good idea to lock em and leave em.
Besides getting a small safe at the mountain house, any thoughts on how to handle this one?

Couldn't you have just locked them in your car?
Glove compartment , console , trunk?I don't speak English , I talk American!

Something like this, portable and fairly secure. A little cheaper than an actual safe, until you can get one. Can be secured in a car, boat or even in the house.

Was this an overnight thing or just the day? Why couldn't you keep it on your person?
Some people just plain suck.

I have a GunVault Nano for just such a travel occasion.
Say I go swimming. Firearm goes into the GunVault the GunVault goes into the car and I keep my keys within sight.
Two factor authentication to get to the firearm. Someone would need to have the car key and know the combination.
Yes a brute force attack could be used. But I bet the sound of breaking windows will alert an adult before they get to the GunVault."No, it's just a machine. I'm the weapon." - Jack Harper in Oblivion

Bill, drop them off with me on your way up to the lake area. I am right off 447 north a fews South of Canadensis. Just do so early enough so I have time to get to the range!

Re: I left my Gun home today.
Yeah, these kids were with us overnight. I usually put my gun next to the bed at night. That wasn't the issue. They were all over our little house while I was out side hooking up the wave runner and gassing up. I think I'll just do what I always do next time and carry on. I do like the idea of dropping them off with PoconoJoe, but he'd pull his hair out after a couple hours with these kids. Their mother learned a few things about how to successfully discipline kids and gain a little respect. Too bad the dad's a heavy drinker and in jail. All he is good for is yelling and acting the fool.
After 5 0r 6 hours Saturday, their foul language gave way to yes, sir and thank you, and sorry sir.
Thanks for the link for the car safes, as well.
