Default Greater Pitt Gun Club news letter

Looks like Greater Pitt is making an effort to try get back into some semblance of their previous existence.

I just got a news letter (which I would think has gone out to all prior members) stating that a club meeting is scheduled on 9 Jul 08 at 7 PM.
The author of the memo is looking for members to pay the $50 yearly single membership by Sept. The couples cost is $60 and the family plan is $75.

The letter does not go into detail if prior members can renew membership without paying the initiation fee nor does it spell out new membership initiation fees.

They are looking for volunteer people to run various events (trap,skeet,5 stand, sporting clays and pistol shoots).

Additionally, they are looking for directors for Combat Pistol,IDPA Action and USPSA Action pistol.

Looking for NRA Volunteers for instructional classes.

The 3rd Sunday of every month they will have a Lewis Class Shoot for 5 stand and sporting clays.

The pool is open for members and the clubhouse is available for rent.

That's it. I have no additional info.

I like it. It needs some upkeep but is half the distance to Pitcarin /Monroeville (which is a nicer, well kept range).

Greater Pitt is a public range and is one of the few in the Pittsburgh area.

$6 lets you shoot all day without having to pay initiation fees or yearly memberships. Members still have to pay a $2 fee for all day.

If you only get to a range occasionally, this is probably one of the best deals going.

The website is still not up yet. I will post it or someone will when they get it straightened out.

I've always liked GPGC. I plan on getting out there to renew my membership. I hope I can make the meeting on July 9.

    Doug,
AFAIK the site is still down.

I'm going to try to make the meeting and will report what is discussed.

I know some people have had bad experiences with the prior owner and don't know what,if any, involvement he may still have.

My early understanding was that there are 3 owners now with Tim being one of the owners who also lives there and manages the club.

I had seen the prior owner there a few times but not recently.

If I find out the site comes back up, I'll post it.

If any of you have specific questions, call Tim at the # in the OP.

I used to enjoy going to GPGC. It was a nice facility. I'm looking forward to hearing the results of the meeting. I let my membership expire years ago, but I may have to look into joining again as it is only a 20 minute drive for me and probably the closest range I am aware of.

Well, That was about the shortest meeting in history.

I met with the 2 police officers blocking the gate and they were not allowing anyone to enter the club property.

The local I spoke to while trying to get some idea of what was up said nothing more than he was there to assist and had no knowledge if the closing was permanent or what.

The lady in the car ahead of me was turned away first and evidently was asking the same questions.

The other officer was decked out in black with a shirt that said State Police and had his face covered with a baclava (sp). He had on a cool drop down holster and didn't say a word.

I guess I'll try to call and see if i get through. Sighs.

Edit. I tried to call. Got the recording. "If you are trying to reach Tim ,Press #2, If you are trying to reach Tex, press #3". Sounds like Tex is still there.
