    Default Federal Park Carry?

I thought you could carry anywhere in Federal parks now, but I ran into this At the Lemmon House in PA over the weekend.

You can carry anywhere in Federal parks except in buildings housing Federal workers.

You can carry in federal parks. You just can't carry in buildings where federal employees work...like park rangers. They forgot that exception. DOH!!

Although carry within a Federal Park is allowed if done so under the laws of the host state, there is still the proscription of 18 USC 930 for carry in Federal Facilities defined as:

The term "Federal facility" means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.
This applies even to buildings within National Parks. The law allowing carry in Parks is only a tolling of regulations by the Dept of the Interior and does not affect other statutory proscriptions.

I see. Well, thanks for the clarification.

So, the ability to carry in the park isn't that helpful if you have to leave your firearm sitting on the sidewalk (or something) so you can go into a building and take a dump, or actually go into the visitor centers and other exhibits.

    Anyway, thanks.

If your going to take your dump in a visitor center/ranger office/etc than I guess you have to leave your firearm behind. From other discussions the restroom facilities that you would use at a campsite are not prohibited as federal employees don't work there.

Personally I prefer to leave my dumps rather than take them. But to each their own.
