Default AR build shot the detent

Dam I knew I was going to before I did but I still went ahead and started assembling my lower and ting I shot the detent for the front takedown pin into another dimension. If I was showing a friend I would have used precautions, but for myself ahh just send it into the twilight zone. Why can you hear tiny parts hit and bounce around but never find them? Order sent to PSA.

I have crawled around my floor with a flashlight for over an hour. I have yet to lose any of those little pieces, they will not win.

It's eating at me. I thought I'd make the feeling go away by ordering replacements. It ain't working. by the way PSA has a few good deals today. $$$ working over deep carpet is a bad idea.

I usually end up finding the "lost" part later after the replacement has arrived.

I've also noticed on my last couple builds, the Spikes LPK W/O trigger assembly
has an extra detent and spring.

Nice for those of us with sometimes less than nimble fingers.

Not sure if the extras are intentional or not.

The last one I did flew out hit the ceiling bounced off and ended up in the chandelier in the dining room. Good thing the wife wasn't home,

I've been known to install that part sitting in the bath tub with the drain plugged and curtain closed. No escapees so far.

I have purchased a tool to make it easier to install the front detent pin.

Consists of a knurled ended rod, with a hole for the pin and spring to fit through, that fits through the front pivot pin hole from the opposite side.

Compress the spring/pin combination through the hole, slide the tool back
slightly, which holds the detent and spring in place, and install the pivot pin, which captures cursed flying parts in place.

Not 100% fool proof, but pretty close.

I use a similar device. A pin with holes from Tractor Supply that fits the hole loosely. (Not sure of the proper name). Push the spring and detent down in with a punch, rotate the pin slightly keeping downward pressure, remove the punch, rotate the pin slightly more and use the pivot pin to push out the Tractor supply pin.

    Easy!
