    Default Why arent guns selling?

I am seeing a lot of posts in the classifieds where the price is good or even great that are not selling. Even in shops, I feel no urgency when I see what I want. If I don't have the money when I first see something I simply come back in a few weeks and what I've been looking at is still there. Of course I wouldn't take that chance with something I really wanted that was hard to find but my last two purchases played out that way. I would hate to be on the selling end lately. What gives?

People bought all the guns they need/want during the 2010-2012 scare.

Retailers are offering great discounts, lowering the value of used guns. (I've seen several Savage Axis rifles on the classifieds north of $300 when you can order them new for $229).

People are waiting out the down trend to see where things bottom out.

Manufacturers overproduced. Big reason why Ruger's stock took a dive recently (Down to $50 from $85 at the start of the year).

Ammo is too expensive and annoying to procure in some areas. Seriously, where the hell is the .22?

Sellers aren't willing to accept what the market is offering.

Buyers got burnt overpaying during the ban scare and are more reluctant to pay asking price.

I'd bet some or all of those are at work.

Things should pick back up during election season, or until Barry O mentions gun control again.

Hard to have money for guns when the prices for the every day items you need to survive continue to go up.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

All that crap sounds about right - especially the first point.
I know I won't likely need to buy many more mags for anything for the rest of my life after THAT spree.

...because you would then need to change your screen name to 'Megamag'.

And yet the collectors are still buying surplus guns and they are hitting record highs.

New guns I can buy any time at any dealer. There is no threat of not being able to buy them in the future so no need to rush out and buy them today.
