1911 Advice
I'm gonna buy a 1911 .45 this month. Not too familiar with them other than how to shoot them. I want to spend around 800 but will sound more if the more expensive one is worth it. I saw the Ruger and Desert Eagle 1911 which I liked both. Sig makes a nice green scaley looking one for 950. There are just so many companies who make them I don't know where to start . I will be using this as my carry pistol so over time it's probable gonna get a little beat up.

Springfield Armory Range Officer is in your price range.
I have their Stainless Steel Fully Loaded model.
It's a great starter 1911.
EDIT: I was going to also suggest a Rock Island 1911...I see the post above this one mentions RIA. I know a guy who has one and loves it.

Re: 1911 Advice
I've got the Springfield Armory milspec 1911 a1;
I have the second one on the bottom of the page. I bought it off gunbroker new for $745 two years ago. . Have carried it for nearly 1.5 years, cocked and locked, and it still looks like new.

Re: 1911 Advice
What Democrat said. Your starter 1911 is the one where you learn that the 1911 is a dedicated end user gun.... one that you can't just go shoot and forget to clean for months and months. You have to learn how to totally strip it down... not field strip but totally strip.... clean, lube and re-assemble. You have to learn how to fix minor problems... you have know what major problems are and where to go to fix them.
1911'a are like beers... you can't just have one.

Re: 1911 Advice
What's the differences between all these models. And if the more expensive ones really worth it I'd spend some more
There are so much dangers in the world now with Obese homosexual landlords, Aspiring rap artist, peurtorican fishermen, African American men in SUVs, old men who hate foreign cars. With all this danger i think I need the best of the best.
