If you really want to shoot “long range”, generally considered 700 yards and beyond, you MUST not holdover or use some form of Kentucky windage. The best way to start is with IRON sights, at least to a 1000 yards. But you have a glass and maybe that’s all. Learn how to adjust and rely on your sight adjustments. At 100 yards shoot a SQUARE, using 8 shots, and see if your sights return to zero. That is shoot, then up two inches and shoot again, up two more and shoot, right two inches and shoot, right two and shoot, down two and shoot, down two more and shoot, two left and shoot and last, left two more and shoot. The first and last should be just about one hole. If you and/or your equipment cant close the box then something needs work. You must handload! ANY/EVERY reloader, including handgun, should have a chronograph, but long range loading absolutely requires one. Strive for single digit or 10-15 as standard deviation. Join a range that goes to 1000 yards and that has a target pit and up-down target carriers. Get a set of radios and shoot with a friend.
