    Default snake gun?

Im looking for suggestions on a good snake gun. I have seen several copperheads on my property. I would use my 12 gauge but im looking for something a little more quiet.

These are available. I have fired the ones for the .38 Special, and I understand that they are available in .22 long rifle as well. People tell me that they take out snakes quite well. Definitely quieter than a 12-gauge.

None as it is ILLEGAL to shoot snakes as well as pointless. They will continue to come on as long as your property is favorable for them. They come chasing the prey. Of course if you are cool with the rodents and disease that come with them (bubonic plague for example) then by all means kill em. A majority of bites come from people messing with the snake. Don't forget the regulations attached to snakes. I HIGHLY suggest reading up on them.

Just walk away and clean up your property.

I agree with leaving them alone. Plus I'm willing to bet they were not copper heads. There are a few very common snakes that are often mistaken.

Ill take ya on that bet LOL.

Somerset county is THICK with copperheads, especially along the many streams and rocks/hills we have.

I use a 6" 22 with bird shot. Works better than a 2" 38 with shot. Good to about 10'. Never shot one farther than that.

    ^What he said.

From the FAQ section on the PA Fish and Boat commission website:

    10. Can I kill a timber rattlesnake or any snake with a firearm?
No, it is now unlawful to take, catch, or kill a reptile or amphibian through the use of a firearm.

I wonder what other stupid laws we have that no one gives a fuck about. Jaywalking, carrying a knife in Philly, shearing a sheep after midnight..

Carrying a knife in Philly, not being able to have a long gun in a car unless doing a list of "pre approved" things or having an LTCF, the drinking age, illegal to sleep in a refrigerator in Pittsburgh, etc..

The refrigerator one really sucks. I love sleeping in refrigerators!
