Escaping from NJ to PA
All
My apologies in advance for dumb questions, but just checking:
planning on changing residence from NJ to Bucks in a month
or two. Any actions required to bring my painfully collected
firearms over legally to my new residence?

Re: Escaping from NJ to PA
Transport them with the movement of some household goods in your vehicle. While in NJ follow the following methodology:
g. All weapons being transported under paragraph (2) of subsection b., subsection e., or paragraph (1) or (3) of subsection f. of this section shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances.
Once in Pa the requirements are somewhat less stringent but if you maintain the NJ methodology you are good in Pa also.
Once here there is no requirement for you to do anything further. Recommend you get a Pa DL and get an LTCF to make you transport life easier plus it will allow you to carry on-person. Though not required, there are pluses and minuses to at least having your carry handguns recorded in the PSP database by performing a to-self transfer at a Pa FFL.IANAL

Re: Escaping from NJ to PA
Not that I am aware of. I moved from Illinois with my firearms in the car to my new home in PA. No registration, paperwork, etc was required. Even if it was, I wouldn't comply with it.

Welcome Rightfield from another PRNJ escapee, hope you got EZpass so you don't have slow down when you tell NJ to kiss your hind quarters. Freedom.

Re: Escaping from NJ to PA
Once you get your Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms, scan a copy, black out all the personal information, and mail that to everyone left behind in New Jersey. Rubbing salt in a wound may not be nice, but it's nice to do every now and then.
Welcome to Pennsylvania! America starts here.

Re: Escaping from NJ to PA
Thanks for the information, folks.
I am all too familiar with the regs for transporting within NJ....very glad to
be leaving that behind. I didn't think that there was anything specific to be done upon moving in (the way it SHOULD be, of course) but wanted to check with those in a better position to know.
Much appreciated!

Re: Escaping from NJ to PA
Just make sure you shut the door behind you and please wipe your feet. We don't want any NJ politics to get in.
Go buy some "high cap" mags to celebrate too.

Though not required, there are pluses and minuses to at least having your carry handguns recorded in the PSP database by performing a to-self transfer at a Pa FFL.
Registration: : the act or process of entering information about something in a book or system of public records
: the act or process of entering names on an official list
: a document showing that something (such as a vehicle) has been officially registered
