I have a 700 BDL in 7mm Mag. Love it.
A Republic, if you can keep it.

    Another Ford vs Chevy thread.

Both will serve you well. You will be able to upgrade parts for Remington and Savage. Only true difference is do you want/have the money to pay a smith to upgrade your Remington?

Or do you prefer to DIY and learn some skills and save money and go with Savage?

I've owned both...and I do not have any Remingtons and I don't plan on buying any Remingtons. I like being able to work on my rifles and upgrading my rifles.

None of the Remingtons I've owned will out shoot the Savages that I own.

    Very much agree.
I would go with the Savage.
I don't have a catchy phrase to put here!

    Ditto.
Savages have been making some amazing rifles the last few years. Low cost, reliable, very accurate, durable, and great looking. What else could you want in a rifle? Rem 700 is a great gun too

    Sendero is really heavy.

Why not look into old 700 then take the action put a barrel on it for your caliber and have custom stock.

That would be better than either.

Honestly, "heavy" is relative. To most long range shooters, the Sendero isn't all that heavy at all. A custom rifle is always better if it's made properly, but it's also a LOT more expensive. For most people's uses, either of the rifle that have been mentioned would be fine.

As a friend of mine says spend $1000.00 on a Savage or buy a Remington and spent another $2-3000.00 and Maybe get one that will out shoot the Savage.
The Mdl 12*** that we have will with a good shooter out shoot at 200 yds. what I can get at 100 yds. Accu stock, 26"barrel, Accu Trg. 11 lb. naked weight and left hand ejection. A little vague as I once again am on medical restricitons and meds., can't go upstairs to the safe. If anyone cares we can find the rest of the alphabet after 12.
Mine is .223 but they used to make it in other calibers.

I have sendero's and both shot well, in 7mag and 300rum.
    .
IF i were doing it again I would probably go a standard 300win mag. Especially if you reload you can do a lot with and there's a ton of data.
    .
Given the calibers you picked Id maybe reverse your choices by #'s....ie:
    7WSM or 300 Win Mag
    .
Running the numbers the 7 will do better than the 300 in a SM because of the
BC of the bullets u can run.
    .
As far as the Rem vs. Savage....I prefer Rem but shoot with a guy that really does well w savages. I could just never get used to the rough action on them and prefer the Rem. The bonus with the savage is you can change calibers easily with just minor work.
    .
All that being said...when deer season rolls around and I'm not sure what range I'm going to be shooting etc. My go to rifle is my Sendero SF in 7RM with 140gr NBTs.
