safe question
I am in the market for a new fire safe. It will currently need to be able to hold 5 pistols with a little room to grow. I'm not worried about long guns at the moment, that will be later on. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: safe question
If it's only going to be used for handguns Lowes, Home Depot, etc carry safes for the home. I'd put it in a place that would be accessible & anchor it down.
Hint: It doesn't matter how large a safe you get, you'll outgrow it quickly."It's hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong."

Re: safe question
Other than buying way more safe than you need, get whatever suits your budget.
In my research most all consumer grade safes are pretty minimal protection from a determined or skilled thief. Unless you are going to spend many thousands of dollars for a safe with a real heavy gauge shell (most are not)
chances are it can opened like a tuna can with some time and determination.
So IMO you are protecting against your run of the mill smash and grab punk, or securing your firearms from curious youths, which is all most of us need.
I say go grab one, and be sure you lag that bitch down in a corner to the floor and wall if possible. The least exposed surfaces the better IMO.
Edited to add:
Many times when guns are targeted by thieves it's an inside job. Somebody told somebody that overheard them telling somebody.......you get the picture.Last edited by God's Country; July 19th, 2014 at 09:50 AM.

Re: safe question
Look for an old Diebold. They are out there. Example below(not associated in any way). Spend a few dollars for a locksmith and you're getting some old school quality and weight.

Re: safe question
Any idea of how much cubic feet I would need for 5 pistols?

Re: safe question
I guess that depends on the pistols and how you want to store them. Buy bigger than what you think you need that way there is room for all that pesky paperwork and other valuables that inevitably find their way in.
