    Default Issue with firearms transfer

I'm having an issue with my ffl after purchasing one of those sweet s&w model 10s from budsgunshop. It was delivered at the ffl on monday and today I called to see if I could pick it up. I was told to come on in (work at home ffl). Halfway there I received a phone call from him saying he was out of the PA state police Application/Record of Sale Form (SP4-113). Pretty disappointing to say the least...

So he says he faxed in the request for the new forms, and that maybe it would be thursday or friday. I'm now seeing on the pa state police website it may take several weeks to get forms in.....

    http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal...m_forms/462391

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed? Should I ask him to transfer it to another dealer? Maybe an ffl can chime in on how long it takes to get these forms? I'd really rather not wait 2-3 weeks to pick up my new gun...

My closest dealers get their SP4-113s in about five saws to a week after faxing the request.

The 2-3 weeks mentioned on the PSP website is in case they are out themselves and are awaiting delivery from the printer.

Why would a dealer wait until they are completely out to order more?

^ Some people are just unorganized.

Hurts his business and his customers. Maybe he had a big rush after the big 3-gun show weekend a couple weeks back.

Is it a generic form that they can download?

Some people have it bad, I took my model 94 to a guy to fix, it had a sloppy trigger and the firing pin would fall out.
14 months later I told him I want it back. It wasn't fixed and he lost my firing pin.

That was my first gunsmith experience.
I fixed it myself and besides the firing pin, it needed a $2 part.

No. It is a carbonless copy type form. One copy is kept by the FFL, one is given to the buyer, one is sent to the PSP.

It actually has the dealers info pre printed on the form so it cant be borrowed from another dealer or copied.

I guess I'll just be patient. Maybe I heard him wrong and he said "I just fax the request into them".. means he only has to fax it.. and he had already done it but ran out in the meantime. Otherwise I dont know why he would tell me thursday or friday.

Nobody mentioned it but the forms are also numbered.

The forms are not generic because of the numbering. I assume somewhere there is a computer that is tracking each dealer's numbers like on checks. They clearly state that dealers can't borrow forms from each other due to the numbering.
