Philadelphia teen shot minutes after graduation

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ A Philadelphia teenager is shot in the back just minutes after his high school graduation at a Temple University sports arena.

It happened at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday outside the Liacouras (LEE-uh-CORE-us) Center in North Philadelphia.

The 18-year-old victim is a graduate of Strawberry Mansion High, which had just finished commencement exercises. He's in surgery at Temple University Hospital.

Police say two groups of five or six young men started fighting outside after the ceremony. Police say to shots were fired and that both hit the young man.

It's unclear whether the victim was part of the fight or was caught in the crossfire. Police also aren't sure if the teens in the fight were also gradates.
