Default Montco required new Tactical vehicle

I understand that the County only paid for freight, but seriously overkill.

They needed a replacement because the old one that was never needed was getting old.

Why would a local PD DEPT need something like this. I understand it only cost the tax payers only $5000.00. But did anyone figure the cost of the up keep for this Military design truck.

They need it to justify the cost of the team trained to the vehicles deployment.
PD's are just like any other government agency, they always grow and refuse to shrink regardless of the need.

Here in Bucks we use them to defend against NJ cops who invade Bucks and barricade themselves inside a house for 10 hours.

Why? - well to protect them against .50 caliber rounds of course!

“This will only be used in situations where it is needed,” Foltz said.

He recalled an incident on Logan Street two years ago as an example of when the MRAP would be used.

During the 12-hour incident, a man barricaded himself inside his apartment and fired several .50 caliber rounds at responding officers and tactical teams.

In conjunction with Foltz’s statement, the MRAP arrived completely devoid of all weaponry and a turret on the top for a mounted gun.

Not only was having a reliable vehicle important, it needed to be housed in a central location to most of the communities CMERT services.

Before the MRAP arrived in Pottstown, the tactical team would have to wait to use the Bearcat provided by Montgomery County.
Now, back in 2012, a guy named AJ Dudanowicz went berzerk up in Pottstown.

The harrowing incident began early Feb. 9, when Albert J. Dudanowicz, then 56, reportedly started slamming washer and dryer doors at the Logan Court Apartments around 6 a.m. and refused to be quiet. <<snipped>>
The area’s SWAT team, the ChesMont Emergency Response Team, was called to respond to the scene, and residents were evacuated from the complex on the 700 block of Logan Street .
Police surrounded the building where Dudanowicz was holed up, allegedly armed with a .375 caliber bolt action rifle typically used to hunt big game animals and a .50 caliber revolver.
Yeah, we need MRAPS to take care of that problem. Right. Wonder what they did back in 1870 without MRAPS?
