    Default NEW: Ruger SR9E

Looks like Ruger came out with an SR9 that doesn't have an LCI ramp or magazine disconnect. It still has has the manual safety.

    RUGER SR9E

The RugerŪ 9E™ is the newest addition to the popular SR-Series line of pistols. It features a unique reversible backstrap (flat or arched) that allows shooters to quickly customize the size and feel of the grip, without the use of separate inserts or special tools. It has an integral accessory mounting rail which provides space for mounting lights, lasers and other tactical accessories and a dovetailed, high-visibility 3-dot sight system that features a raked-forward front sight for easy removal from the holster, and a fixed rear sight. The RugerŪ 9E™ also features a black, high-performance, glass-filled nylon grip frame, a visual inspection port that provides confirmation of a loaded or empty chamber, an ambidextrous thumb safety and D-shaped magazine release that are easy to reach and actuate and an alloy steel slide with black oxide finish. The RugerŪ 9E™ centerfire pistol features the Essentials - Everything You Need, and Nothing You Don't™.
Three other things I noticed when comparing it to the SR9:

    1) The SR9E weighs 27.20 oz and the SR9 weighs 26.50 oz.
    2) The SR9E only comes with a black slide.
    3) The MSRP of the SR9E is $429.00, the SR9 is $529.00.

    Edit to add:
    4) The SR9E ships with only one (1) mag.
    5) The SR9E has fixed rear sights.

I wonder how much these will retail for. Seems like a great price for a great gun. I like the SR9 a lot (though I do prefer the Glock 17). This will attract people that don't like the chamber indicator and mag disconnect. The safety is so small and you still have the option of not using it.

Never cared for the LCI ! The gun looks to be a winner though even though they come with only ONE mag !

You could buy another mag for 35 bucks so for the 100 dollar price drop I don't think you can complain much. non-adjustable rear sights big whoop. It's nice to see the stupid red shark fin gone. The gun looks so much better without it.

The SR9c is my edc gun. I carry it with the manual safety off. It really isn't that big of a deal and doesn't get in the way. I also removed the magazine disconnect from mine. This gun seems like a pretty good deal, but I wish the next pistol they came out with would have been the SR45c.

there are few other things I noticed
Often hated pop up loaded chamber indicator thingie is gone too
The serrations on the slide in the back are different. Those change on slide likely accounts for the weight difference
and there is no mention of a Mag disconnect
The slide is slightly different near the muzzle...no machine grooves on the bottom edge near the front.
Front sight itself also look different than Standard model

I've often thought having adjustable sight is pointless on defensive weapon. So that's an welcome change.
Stainless slide is nice. But Carbon steel one work just as good. So that's welcome change too to make it cheaper.

The SR9/SR9C/SR40/SR40C/SR45 come with either stainless steel or alloy steel slides. The SR9E only comes with alloy steel slides.

The SR9E only comes with a black oxide finish on its alloy steel slide. The SR9/SR9C/SR40/SR40C/SR45 slides have either the black nitride (alloy steel slide) or brushed stainless (stainless stell slide) finishes.

Bullshit! Ditch the manual safety. One more whack on the Ruger lawyer's head should do it.....
