Default YMCA - RULES OF CONDUCT

I NOTICED WHILE AT THE Y THAT THEY HAVE A SIGN POSTED WITH RULES / POLICIES AND ONE OF THEM IS THAT YOU CAN'T CARRY CONCEALED WEAPONS. ARE THE PRIVATELY OWNED? WOULD THIS HOLD UP. AFTER THE WHOLE LA FITNESS THING YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY MIGHT RECONSIDER SUCH A RECKLESS POLICY.

THE YMCA AS FAR AS I KNOW IS PRIVATELY OWNED AND MAY POST WHATEVER POLICIES THEY WISH. THEY COULD EVEN ASK YOU TO SING THE SONG BEFORE ENTERING IF THEY WANTED.
Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

What did it say about open carry of weapons?
It is you. You have all the weapons that you need. Now fight. --Sucker Punch

Sounds to me like Open Carry would be ok.... since their sign/rules specifically prohibits CONCEALED WEAPONS.

The YMCA is and for as far as I know has always been a private organization.

Yes, their policy would hold up. Private property is private property.

The Y's around here are individual operations. With the exception if the lansdowne and ridley Y's which are a joint operation. Could the policy be different at each Y? I have never seen a sign like that at the Y I go to. Even with a child care / preschool on site.

Does anyone have any further info on this because it brings up something i was not sure of. I have seen several posts stating that it is illegal to carry into a preschool. I was under the impression that the only gun free school zones were k through 12. To add to the confusion though, my Y has a kindergarten. I think I also saw something about a preschool may be gun free due to licensing requirements or something like that , but it wasn't clear if that was only for employees or for clients as well. Anyone have any info that could shine a light of this? Thanks.

K thru 12 grade schools are specifically off-limits. Pre-school is not within that range of grades.

    However, private property rights prevail.
