Default Sig 229, Sig 226 or Glock 32

At first I considered posting this in the firearms thread, but I'm not really here to debate the reliability or function of the Sig 229, Sig 226, and Glock 32. I know the listed pistols are all great firearms. That being said, does anybody CC any of the listed pistols for multiple hours daily? I know the G32 would be the easiest, but do any of you have any input or comments when it comes to CCing a P226 or P229 (Especially in an iwb holster, more specifically a n82 original holster)? If you could compare these pistols to carrying a compact Glock that would be great too. I want a .357 sig, but if you carried the same model listed above but in a different caliber, then your input is still greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I no longer have it, but I used to carry the 229 (.40) IWB frequently in a Galco Summer Comfort. It worked well, but I just never fell in love with the 229 like I did my 226.

I don't carry my 226 IWB, as I have other guns better suited to IWB carry, but I don't see why it can't be done with the right holster.

If weight is a concern, then the Glock gets the nod, because the empty 229 will weigh almost as much as the loaded Glock.

I have a Sig 229 in .40 SW. I tried carrying it concealed some time ago. The main complaints I had was the weight and bulk of the gun. It was not very comfortable therefore, I didn’t carry it long. I even tried the Sig 239 and found it was too heavy for only an 8 rd. Mag capacity. I do have a Glock 32 and found that be easier to carry and conceal. I don’t know if you considered the HK p30 or the Walther PPQ. Both of these are lighter and appear to be thinner than the SIG 229 or 226 but the grips are slightly larger.

OP, thanks for asking this question. It's been on my mind too.

I carry a Glock 32 as my EDC - most often for 8+ hours at a time. Though I've looked at the Sig P226 and P229, neither felt good in my hand by comparison. I think the extra weight of the Sigs would be good for recoil control, but that's about it.

Frankly, I was going down this path for the past 6 months. The other day, I tried a Glock 31 (actually a 22, but I'll get a 357 Sig barrel for it), and I think that's the route I'm taking. More rounds, longer barrel - everything I want, especially for Winter carry.

Good luck, OP! Let me know how it goes.

Right now, I've got a 23 on my hip and a 27 on my ankle.

Hard for me to suggest anything other than the Glock.

Get a Sig 239 and enjoy a thin albeit somewhat heavy gun.

After years of carrying G31,G32 and G33 I have carried a S&W642 in my front pocket for the last 2 months and am liking it.

I'm starting to think that a high round count is best left for those knowingly walking into danger on a regular basis.....

I carry the 229 in 40. its small enough for me to have and people not even realize. I don't particularly like glocks and truthfully feel they are less safe than some other options with no safeties and DAO. Philly PD has some stories of accidental shooting them while drawing from holsters, cleaning etc. I personally like the DA/SA with a determined initial 10lb pull and 4lb follow up. 226 is a little large for CC i think most of the time. Less likely to do it accidentally pulling against 10 lbs initially over the ~6 of the DAO.

The P226 is such a versatile firearm....it's probably THE gun I miss the most of the few I have ever sold. If you go .40 you can throw a .357 barrel in it and have a totally different gun.. and the .357 is so fun!

It is heavier than the Glock but you will get use to it.

P229 is same way get in 40 and swap to 357 barrel. In regards to the weight, you have to remember its because of polymer gun vs metal gun. weight between polymer p250c and p229 wasn't that noticible to me. But in handling recoil I noticed that I have a lot less with the metal 229 than the polymer 250 or any of the other polymer guns I've shot.
