    Default Firearm hobby getting bigger?

I was sitting in the Wendys drive through the other day pondering how many cholesterol patties I wanted on my burger, and started looking around at other vehicles around me. I was surprised to see how many firearms stickers there are on vehicles. There was a Remington sticker on the truck in front of me, and a Glock decorative plate on the one behind me. Seemed to be something similar on most of the vehicles I could see.(Yes. Im guilty of it too. Gotta have the Gadsden flag. And HK.) So since then, at red lighs i now sometimes take notice to this more often.

So this made me think. Has the sport of shooting seen that much of a surge in the past couple years? I dont remember ever seeing so many firearms related items on people's vehicles/ person. Don't get me wrong. It's awesome so many people take an interest in it in todays world.

I know there are many old timers on here that have been in it for longer than I've been alive. Has anyone gotten into firearms in just the past year or so? I've been at it for about 10 years roughly. It just seems the sport has grown hugely over the past 2 or 3 years. And not just the sport. I'm always reading how LTCF apps are increasing in number, and how sales are getting better at LGSs.

So, I'll stop blathering now. It was just kind of a thought process I went through. Maybe I'm way off. I don't know.

I think showing off your intrests weather its firearms or something else has grown allot recently. The new national pasttime is now expressing your opinions about something or simply liking something without offering any opinion. So maybe more poeple are just expresing their views more openly. Personally I think its a bad ide as it screams, come on criminals watch me get on the train and steal my guns.

However firearms sales seem to be trending up and not only because of political panic. There is definatly more competition going on than decades ago and self defense is a big growth market for firearms.

Two wars and countless best selling video games/movies/tv built around combat im sure leads some into firearms. Cable TV offers up a show for every subject and there are a number of firearms related shows out there.

Hmm. Interesting thought. I never looked at it from that angle.

I'm off the same belief or worse yet quietly follow me home and steal more when nobodies home. I see a lot of those stickers too I personally feel like it makes me more of a target that it does benefit me showing my interests.

Must be nice to look around and see stickers in support of guns on cars. When I look around in traffic all I see are Obama and Coexist stickers, even on pickup trucks. Once the Hillary stickers start popping up I think I might lose it.

Yes, there are more shooters and gun owners than there used to be. However, I don't see many stickers, plates, or whatever on vehicles around Philly. I see more Obummer 08 stickers than anything gun-related. I too think it's a bad idea to advertise that you are a gun owner, at least around these parts.

    What's wrong with Coexist stickers?

We have to find someone who makes a "Sucks" sticker and order a shit load for those cars with the Hillary, Obama, coexist, I'm a Socialist stickers.

I usually have a Ducks Unlimited sticker on my vehicles. I was thinking about the NRA plate but I can't bring myself to get one after their support of the Hughes Amendment.

It has definitely grown...I also think another part is, like QuackXP mentioned, it is popular to show off you interests...Gun stickers are now trending. Just like the baby on boards were, then car audio, the OBX style stickers, JDM/Euro, etc... Now it's guns, hate to say it but I think Duck Dynasty has/had a lot to do with firearm stickers being (more) popular.

I proudly display my lifetime NRA sticker and license plate on my vehicles. I also actively seek out new or first time shooters to take to the range with me as often as possible. They tend to get hooked on the fun and quality family time spent at the range. These new "recruits" soon realize the bullshit that the mass media and the anti-gunners are spewing.
