Magazine vs Clip finally resolved
I liked what I read I believe in Cheaper Than Dirt:
A magazine has a spring. A clip doesn't.
Perfect! I'm gonna use that one until I'm back to dust.

Clip = directly holds ammunition
Magazine = ammunition is fully contained* within the body of the device
* - except the top most round which is being presented for feeding into the chamber (I'm covering all bases for the resident wise-asses - you know who you are )
